Grades
You should be able to check out your homework and midterm
grades on webct.
Please check them out regularly to make sure your homework is being
graded/transcribed correctly!
Grades Formula
GRADE = MAX(0.2 * HOMEWORK + 0.3 * MIDTERM + 0.2 * FINAL PROJECT + 0.3 * FINAL EXAM, 0.4 * FINAL PROJECT + 0.6 * FINAL EXAM)
Exams
-
Midterm: WEDNESDAY February,

Homework
Hand in on Thursday class.
20% deduction for lateness by one day without reason, else 100%.
Solutions will be posted on this web site.
Please turn in a readable and organized homework. This is
a big class! Here is a suggestion:
- Write your name and student ID on top of each and every page;
- Start answering a question always on the top of the page.
Homework #1
Chapter 2: 34(e)-(g), 36, 38, 42, 45, 58, 59(d)-(f), 60(a)-(c)
Due: 01/13/2011
Need a solution?
Homework #2
Chapter 4: 2, 13, 16, 17, 18, 22
Due: 01/20/2011
Need a solution?
Homework #3
Chapter 6: 18 (a) and (b), 20, 23, 27, 28, 32 (a)
Due: 01/27/2011
Need a solution?
Homework #4
Chapter 4: 12, 20
Chapter 6: 18(c) (plot II-type block diagram with
integrators), 22(a)-(b)
Chapter 15: 33(b)-(c), 39(a), 43
Additional items:
Problem 39 (a): Use matlab to compute and plot the response of the
system. You should use commands like 'tf', and 'step'.
Problem 43: For a fixed value of K that makes the system
stable, use the matlab commands 'tf' and 'feedback' to compute
the transfer function from x to y. Use 'impulse' to plot the
impulse response of the resulting system.
