A final project will be assigned instead of homework in the last week of class.

Grade

Course Policy

Turn-in all your work electronically on TED. No other form of homework submission will be accepted. Homework has to be turned in on time. Late homework will not be accepted. Email me before the deadline in case an emergency prevents you from submitting your homework on time.

No collaboration (exchange of information or files) is permitted on the midterm, final exam and final project. Any observed collaboration on these exams will be reported to the university authorities, which may result in severe consequences on your student status.

Collaboration during homework is permitted and encouraged, with full participation of all students in the study group.

Working with others on homework assignments is a good way to learn the material and is encouraged. Working together to find a good approach for solving a programming problem is healthy cooperation. However, any work that you submit must be your own work. Copying someone else's work is cheating. Keep in mind that we shall not distinguish between someone who copies somebody else's work and someone who allows their work to be copied.

Violators of the above rule will be given zero points for the assignment involved.

If you have any questions about what constitutes cheating, please ask.

Additional Material

You might want to take a look at an old website for MAE 9 for my notes on the C Programing Language. We will revisit some problems discussed there using MATLAB.

There are many resources available on the web. Here is an old yet useful tutorial on the basics of MATLAB.

Documentation and demos in MATLAB are also very useful. Get used to the MATLAB commands help, doc and demo.

If you find online material that you think might be useful as a reference for this class please let me know and I will add a link for it here.

MATLAB Access

MATLAB is available on the machines in our reserved lab and in most other student computer lab throughout campus or remotely via Virtual Labs, which you can install on your computer or iPad. There is no need to purchase a MATLAB license or a student version of MATLAB for this class.
