• Dynamic systems and their signals, Continuous-time signals and discrete-time sampling
• Fundamental signals in continuous- and discrete-time, Elementary signal operations, Properties of deterministic and stochastic signals
• Linear Time Invariant (LTI) systems, Convolution Sum and Integral and Basic properties and connections of LTI systems
• LTI systems: differential & difference equations, Causality & Stability, Introduction to State Space Modeling
• LTI systems: Sinusoidal inputs with Euler Formula, Fourier Series for Periodic Signals, Spectrum of a signal and Parseval's Theorem
• Continuous-time Fourier transform, Frequency Analysis and Bode diagram of continuous-time systems
• Discrete-Time and Discrete Fourier Transform, Bode diagram and Frequency Analysis of discrete-time systems & Discrete Fourier Transform with Matlab
• Laplace transform for continuous-time signals, properties of Laplace transform and transfer function, Laplace transform for solving differential equations and Final/initial value theorems

GRADE = MAX(0.2 * HOMEWORK + 0.2 * MIDTERM1 + 0.2 * MIDTERM2 + 0.4 * FINAL EXAM, FINAL EXAM)

Exams are open notes: you are allowed to consult any written or printed material of your choice.
You can use a hand calculator without communication capabilities.
You cannot use any device that is able to communicate.

Homework

• Homework, instructions and solutions will be posted on canvas.
• Homework will be posted every other week, due the following week.
• This class uses an all-electronic homework submission and grading process.
• You can type and scan your homework for submission.
• No paper submissions will be accepted.
• Turn in every Friday at 23:59, every other week.
• No late homework submissions will be accepted
• Please turn in a readable and organized homework. This is a big class!

Homework grading policy

• No points will be deducted by mistakes you make on homework.
• You will be assigned total points for every question you attempt to solve.
• A valid attempt has to show enough effort to convince the graders that you spent time on the question!
• Just repeating the problem statement IS NOT an example of a valid attempt.
• You get no points on a question if you did not attempt the question.
• Individual questions will not be graded but detailed solutions will be posted every week. Make sure to check out the solutions every week!
